The Kearney R-1 School District encompasses 92 square miles in northern Clay County and eight square miles in Clinton County. The district has a student population of approximately 3,400 students. It has seen a growth rate averaging five percent in recent years. Classrooms and staff have been added to keep ahead of the growth.

Accredited with "Distinction in Performance" by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the Kearney School District's success can be attributed to its 400-plus, highly qualified staff members and its community of caring and dedicated patrons.

Kearney Schools serve about 3,500 students and their families through progressive learning opportunities in safe and accommodating learning environments. The district operates five elementary schools and a middle, junior and senior high school. Additionally, various schools offer before and after childcare, special education for early childhood and older students, and gifted education for elementary and secondary students, along with a plethora of extracurricular opportunities.
